Meet: Priddy Village Hall

A guided walk with the Mendip Hills AONB Volunteer Rangers from the historic village of Priddy which is famous for its ancient sheep fair, folk festival and huge cave systems.

The walk will follow various droves (historic routes for ‘droving’ livestock) and into Ebbor Gorge National Nature Reserve Reserve and Deer Leap, which is said to have the best views in Somerset. If the weather is clear you expect to see across the Somerset Levels to the Quantock Hills, Hinckley Point, the Poldens and Glastonbury Tor.

Distance: 7 miles

Cost: £4.00 donation to the Mendip Hills Fund.

Terrain: Moderate, the majority of the walk is flat, there are a couple of sharp climbs and descents which may well be muddy and very slippery, so if you have mobility or balance issues then this walk is probably not for you. Several stiles along the route.

What to bring: Waterproof walking boots, waterproof Jacket and trousers. Warm clothing including hat and gloves. Walking sticks or poles although not essential are a helpful aid in slippery areas. Bring plenty of water.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short lead as the rote passes through farmland with cattle and sheep grazing.
